The hour had arrived at last; it was time to meet new friends and revisit old friends. Lily had looked forward to this all day and it was finally here. She had re-arranged her living room to allow for more people to gather as well as an area for food. Already on the table was the cake she had made - a large sheet cake with vanilla frosting and chocolate cake, as well as various dip recipes she had experimented with (she only kept the decent ones), and chips. She still had other goodies cooking including sausage.

Now she waited for her guests.

After some interest, we're having the first family movie day at the Pub! Join us Sunday at 2pm for the muggle film 'Shrek' - released just last year in the UK and available thanks to the powers that be via our datapads. We'll have some sort of projection of the film set up in the pub, and I'll be making complimentary popcorn. Children and families are more than welcome!

Hope to see a good crowd for our first try at this!

Happy New Year! Seems a bit odd to be saying that when it's over 25 bloody degrees outside, but there you have it. It's 2002. And how did I celebrate? I stayed in! Believe it or not! With all the new restaurants and clubs opening, I actually took a night off; Paul, the cook at the Pub, said he didn't mind running things for the night, seeing as it was going to be quiet anyway, and seeing as I run his lunch shifts without complaint, being the boss and all. And so I headed home as soon as we'd sent the last of the fixings off to Shacklebolt's for the night!

I took a long, cool shower (can't imagine anything else here), made myself some tea (my 'secret stash' from London, I've only got a little bit left from before I came over, but it's still delicious), and sat with a good romance novel all night long. I think I may have even been asleep before the big countdown. Mum & Dad even let me off the hook for the night, sending me just a short hello via datapad. How lucky am I?

So, this book I'm reading, I found it here in the datapad's general library. The lucky girl finds out shes a witch (imagine her surprise!) and then spends the whole series leading a magical army and trying to decide between the roguish but passionate warlock and the seemingly too good to be true vampire. Can you imagine? I wish! A warlock, a vampire, romance! Obviously, we could all do without war and battles and magical duels, we've had our share of that and then some, but to be swept off my feet by a handsome hero? Whoever was handing that out skimped on me, that's for sure.

So, this whole needing a cook thing, while I've got a moment before the lunch crowd comes in... Should I just put it out on the datapad? Can I submit to the Prehistoric Prophet? Should I just put posts up like would have done at the Leaky? What say you, Settlement One? Anyone looking for a gig that isn't general labor around here?

...Then again, thinking about cooks and job interviews is easier than getting the hang of this blasted pad. I've had to send back two market orders in the last week because I don't know how to type. Or something like that.

Good Godric, I had forgotten what it was like to live so close to my parents. My father has taken over my makeshift lab here at the duplex, he's cleaned it and organized it and installed both my and his potions libraries in all of his free time. I suppose he'll be working as a potions maker in general - he doesn't really know how to do anything else, come to think of it - but I should remind about the lab at the Med Center just in case he thinks he's setting up show at my place.

It's been wonderful having them here, though, despite years across the world for each other, and Sera is driving us all mad. Two more weeks till the baby's due and I think Will is counting down the days worse than Sera is! Cravings are apparently worse when you don't quite know the foods around here... I should bring them some of my sweet butter, now that I think of it, I think she'd like it.
