With the magic being back, Sirius and I have Apparated to the Australia Settlement, which means that I now have power to run my datapad again. We’re both fine, just tired and in desperate need of a shower, a toothbrush and a good night’s sleep, so we’ll be staying the night here and then see if the long-distance Apparation back to Zealandia is an option tomorrow.

I don’t know if Jamie already told you this, but I’ve messaged back and forth with him a bit just now. He says he’s enjoyed spending time with you and that he thinks he wants to work with dragons once he’s done with school. Do you… happen to know how he possibly got that idea?

Anyway, I am really, truly grateful for all that you’ve done. Knowing that he was taken properly care of is what’s kept me going for the past weeks. Thank you, Charlie. I hope someday I can repay you.

Speaking of repaying you: how much do I owe you for broken appliances? I might as well get the shock now while I’m too tired to really react to it. Call it an easy blow.

Yes, I’m all right, nothing a good long shower can’t fix. I’m not alone, Sirius Black is here, we’re following the coast line and we have a Muggle weapon with us, taking as much care as we possibly can.

You truly are a gem, Charlie. Thank you so much. I’m sure Jamie will love to spend time at the Ark, though if need be he can stay at the Pedersen’s next door too, so coordinate with them. Just make sure he doesn’t have too much sugar, or you’ll have a hurricane on your hand. Keep an eye on your kitchen machinery, just because he’s no magic doesn’t mean he won’t try to disassemble them. And don’t let him lure you into answering questions you don’t want to answer. His dad was an Auror, I think some of his interrogative skills have rubbed off on him.

Please tell him I miss him.

Oh, and I have a jungle inside my house because my sofa would get wet if I moved it to the one outside. Besides, I think we established earlier that your sister’s a pretty smart witch, didn’t we?

Hello Charlie,

I’m sorry if this is crossing any boundaries we may have, but I need to cut this short: I’m on Australia, a week or so hike from the settlement, so I need to preserve what battery is left on my datapad.

I don’t know if you’re at the Ark or in the Settlement, but if you are in the Settlement, I need to ask you if you could go by my house as you are the only one in Zealandia who’s familiar with my house and who has access.

Before I left, I started a load of laundry, which (if I know my nephew as well as I know I do) is most likely still there. Can you do me the great favour of checking on that, perhaps run it again and move it to the drier? Also, if you could go through my cooler and refrigerator to clear out any perishables (take what you’d like and toss the rest) just so when I can get home again, I won’t be facing the risk of being greeted by a growling box of toxic waste. If you have the time, is it possible that you can water my plants, or maybe just move them outside on the deck, then I’ll have someone take them from there?

I know this is a lot to ask, but it would be a great help that I would appreciate immensely, Charlie.

I’ll check my messages tomorrow around the same time.

I’m on Australia, at least a week’s hike north of the Settlement, so I’m going to need to ask you a favour:

My garden. Can you take care of it until I get home, please? As luck would have it, everything was just on the verge of being ripe when I left, and who knows how long this will last? Take anything you might like (both vegetables and herbs), it would simply be a shame to let it all go to waste. The bushes at the end of the garden… the berries don’t have any exciting qualities, other than being rich in vitamins and they make an amazingly sweet syrup.

Also, I’ve asked a friend of mine to move my house plants outside, and hopefully he’ll be able to do it. If he has, could you give them some attention to?

Today has been interesting, to say the least. A bloke from the technology center asked me to dinner and I was so caught off guard I agreed. I mean, he doesn't seem like a bad fellow. It's just... different for me.

Still working on a name for the Kneazle Charlie gave me. Somehow I really don't think he'd go for "Fluffy".

The hour had arrived at last; it was time to meet new friends and revisit old friends. Lily had looked forward to this all day and it was finally here. She had re-arranged her living room to allow for more people to gather as well as an area for food. Already on the table was the cake she had made - a large sheet cake with vanilla frosting and chocolate cake, as well as various dip recipes she had experimented with (she only kept the decent ones), and chips. She still had other goodies cooking including sausage.

Now she waited for her guests.

Oh what an evening I had last night. I can't believe James is here. Well, not the James I remember; but it's still him. Same smile, same humor, same charming self. It was all quite heart breaking, really. I'm surprised no one told me; I expected at least Sirius to say something.

It was very awkward, I give you that. He got pulled in 1978 - about 6 months before we got together I'd wager. He has no clue that we were married or anything. He also has no clue about his future. He asked about the Auror program; he did get into it but it wasn't something he stayed in very long - and it wasn't his choice really.

No one's told him about Voldemort and what happened in 1981. He asked about his 2002 self and I didn't have the heart to tell him he died in his prime. I now understand how Sirius and Kingsley felt explaining everything to me.

I made a fool of myself, getting all emotional, but I couldn't help it. He's here. Where he came from we aren't exactly friends; if we see one another we get on well, but we don't visit. However, he did hug me when he first saw me. Merlin, I hadn't had a hug from him in two weeks - feels more like a century, though. Again, it was very awkward.

Towards the end of the evening, he was very much the gentleman I remember from home. So caring. Ugh. I miss him. He ended up walking me home... which reminds me, I've got to look to see who actually bought the stew so I know if I owe him anything. He was so very sweet.

He ended the night by giving me a kiss on the cheek. I have to admit, that put me over the edge. I ended up in tears most of the night. I miss my James. I know they are the same person but this isn't the same one I know. He could get there I'm sure, but he's so different. I didn't think the Auror program had changed him so much.

I'm getting teary eyed again (I'll be glad when my hormones are back in order; I'm not normally so weepy) so I'll sign off. Cheers!
