Date: November 26, 2001, afternoon
Characters: Lisa Turpin
Setting: Settlement 1, The World's End Pub
Content: G
Status: Public: Closed
Lisa got to the pub a little before 10 as usual and opened at 11 for the first lunch customers. The lunch hour was still a little bit slower than she was used to in her time at The Leaky after graduating, but she expected as people got settled in and jobs became a little less urgent, it would be good to have an established schedule that everyone knew. Besides, she loved having her afternoons off, checking out the market for any new fresh food for the dinner service and exploring the almost-bustling Settlement.
Putting out the deck and opening the door to let the warm air waft through the nearly-finished pub dining area, Lisa popped into the kitchen to check on the buns she'd put in the oven and stir the stew she'd be serving today - sort of a ham and pea concoction. She wasn't the best cook, and she knew she'd have to get someone sooner rather than later, but she'd been flatter when she'd been offered the chance to run the only real social gathering place in the new establishment, and she'd jumped at the chance. She wouldn't let a little thing like cooking pea soup ruin her chances. Thankfully the datapad had been very helpful in connecting her with her mother for lots of muggle recipes and cooking styles (she didn't want to scare off the few muggle customers she might get, after all!) and there had been information on what food they had already analyzed that was natural to the area, so she'd used that information to substitute things into her mother's recipes. So far she hadn't had any complaints (besides one day the 'ham' being too salty, but that was sometimes just the way meat came!).
When both were set, she headed back out, grabbed herself a glass of ice water, and went to sit on the deck to greet anyone who might be stopping by. She'd close up again at 3 and run her errands and stop in to say hi to her parents, and then she'd be back at 5 to set up for the dinner service, and she'd stay opening until midnight. It was always a long day, but she had Wednesday's off, and she didn't mind running around in the two hours she had free, she could always rise early if she needed to.
Musing on her new life and new schedule, Lisa sipped her water, put her feet up, and greeted everyone who walked by.
