Three weeks. Almost three weeks, he amended sharply. Godric missed his village. Missed his friends. Missed everything he knew. The only thing here that was familiar to him was magic and even these people - they had to use their wands for even the smallest of spells. It seemed so strange to him. Had magic weakened over the thousand years between them? He didn't know. It would seem that some of Salazar's ranting over limited interaction with the non-magical might have had some effect. Godric wasn't sold on that idea.

He'd spent seven days in the near-constant company of the King - the Elder - called Kingsley who insisted he address him informally. It was a continuous battle to understand what the man was telling him, and although Godric came to trust the man, he found everything - everything - both fascinating and confusing. The 'electronic' devices were incredibly fascinating and Godric picked up on the functionality very quickly, though it was his poor writing skills that caused a stopping block with his use of the 'data pad' he had been assigned.

On the eighth day, Kingsley had brought him to the place of learning - the school - where he met several teachers of magic, all who seemed rather taken with him though he could not fathom why until later that day, when a delightful woman who spoke gaelic told him of the life he would never lead. He was a "founder" of a great school of magic. That explained the Healer woman's - Alicia - reaction to him. So, the safe place of learning that he, Salazar, Helga, and Rowena had imagined had come to pass and would last a thousand years, if not more. He was pleased to hear it, but it made him melancholy as well. His legacy was in another world. A world he could not return to.

Yesterday, Kingsley had brought him to a place of dwelling and informed him that it was his own. Godric did not know what he had done to gain such a gift from the King, but he accepted it with grace. It resembled the King's quarters in some ways, differing in others, but he recognized the implements in the cooking area and remembered what Kingsley had taught him of their use. He had desired a place outside the settlement but had been convinced that he was a welcome member of their community, large though it was. Although he still had a guard - escort, Godric did not wish to be confined, directing the young man to the closest tavern, and so, he found himself drawing a stool at the bar inside the World's End pub.
