Characters: Lily, James, Remus
Setting: Lily's house

Lily blew the loose strands of hair that escaped from her ponytail with a very exasperated breath. Just how much stuff did James own? She felt like they had made one hundred trips already! She was truly thankful for Remus' help.
"How can you not be getting frustrated and tired?" she asked Remus.
The man shrugged, "Stamina, I guess. I know he'd do the same for me."
She rolled her eyes. This was one of those moments she didn't understand the Marauders. She didn't understand why she agreed to move James in. Well, that was the tiredness and all around ickiness talking there. She knew once she had a shower and could fall into bed, it would be a different story. And really, he didn't have that much stuff. Just a lot of electronics.
Remus chuckled, "I remember seeing this same situation a long time ago..."
"But he didn't have all this... stuff... then," Lily countered.
"Oh. He had a lot of stuff then too. Perhaps your lovesick mind forgot about it. Kind of like when a lady gets pregnant for a second time despite all she said during pregnancy and delivery number one."
"I remember all of that quite well. Which is why it isn't happening again." Lily finalized and went back to moving boxes.

I can move them over to the Media Center if we need to." He thought then that maybe they should have figured that out before this point, but planning ahead had never been his strong suit.
"How about a beer and a break?" He gave them both an encouraging look and nodded his head as if agreeing with himself.

Date: 2013-09-01 03:35 am (UTC)Grabbing two bottles of a local brew he'd picked up at the marketplace, he handed one to Remus and gave Lily an understanding look, "Go shower. We'll finish, right Moony?"

Date: 2013-09-01 03:40 am (UTC)Remus nodded, "It really isn't that much more. We can handle it. I bet we can make it go quicker and have it be funner with more than one beer in our systems." He said it more to stir up Lily than anything serious.

Date: 2013-09-01 03:47 am (UTC)Why did it feel like it had been so long? Why did it feel like it had been no time at all? These people were his family, that was why, and he knew it. He collapsed onto the couch, on top of a bag of clothes, and took a long drink of his beer, feeling grateful and very much at home.
In the last week he'd changed his address in the datapad, and today they'd left the house clean and locked up. He had kept his keys mostly because he wasn't sure what else to do with them, but he had settled into a warm sort of comfort in this new chapter of his life already.

Remus turned to her and nodded, "It didn't take too much longer after you disappeared."

Date: 2013-09-12 06:56 pm (UTC)"Come on, another round of drinks," he announced, wanted to put himself into a nice sleepy stupor and not have to think about figuring out where everything went or the fact that he'd probably have to deal with Lil's pet sooner rather than later now that he was here.
"Remus, tell Lily to relax to have a drink with us," he smiled at his friend and enjoyed himself as they fell into more companionable banter and discussed back and forth where things might go or how James might drive Lily absolutely up the wall now that they were living together.
Seeing Remus off long after dark, James shut the door and gave Lily a light kiss, "Shall we go to bed, in OUR bedroom, lovely?" He felt a little giddy saying it, and like maybe he shouldn't feel so excited about such a thing at 18, but it felt entirely right nonetheless, and so he let himself be giddy as Lily lead him to bed.
