James'd had a lovely afternoon with Lily, lying out on the beach and even getting out into the water a bit, she'd looked especially incredible in her two piece and the thought had him nearly floating - without magic - all the way to the pub after apparating home for a quick shower to get rid of the sand in his toes and to change clothes. Now in his typical denims and sweater/t-shirt combo, he entered the pub to catch up with the youngest Weasley.

Waving hello to Lisa, who gave him a look as if to say it's a school night, behave, he smiled wide and took a seat at the bar, asking his favorite waitress in the all the wizarding world for a bottle of whiskey, on him, to share with Gin. Lisa couldn't help but give him a suspicious look and laughing he explained, "She's my drinking buddy now - Lily's not big on it and the guys have gotten older... A bloke has to have a good drinking buddy." Laughing with him, Lisa ran out back to grab a bottle and then took his order for split pea and ham soup and hard bread for dinner. With his soup she brought him a glass of water and two shot glasses for the harder stuff and wished him a good night.

James waited for Ginny, sipping his water and fairly well inhaling his thick soup, the sun and swimming having done a number of his growing-boy appetite.

"That might be, but I'll still take a pass on it," she retorted, amused. Too many times seeing things moving in the pea soup at the Leaky Cauldron for Ginny to ever consider having it. She wouldn't even eat her own mother's pea soup. Getting comfortable on the seat beside James, Ginny didn't try to consider how odd it was to be out drinking with Harry's father.

"Double shots from the bottle, you mean," Ginny teased, nudging his arm lightly. She liked this outspoken man, though he lacked the maturity of Remus or Sirius, James reminded her of Fred in many ways and she missed that. She reached out and picked up the bottle, pouring the two shot glasses with a smirk. "How was your day? Are you enjoying picking out what the rest of us get to watch on those moving picture boxes?"
