Even though it had only been a few days - 5 tops, since Lily had seen James, it felt like a decade had past. She couldn't understand why it always felt like that either. She put her hair up in a ponytail and checked her appearance - jeans and a solid long sleeve shirt. She hoped James didn't mind her dressing down for the evening.

She grabbed her little overnight purse and apparated to his home, knocking on his door, feeling a little antsy.

James stepped back, feigning hurt, "You're just using me, I knew it all along!" He turned with a wicked smile to the stove and shoo'd Lily away, "Go settle in on the couch, want to pick the movie? I picked last time, and dinner will be served in a moment," he gave the last word a flourish with his wand and then ended the warming charms and dished out stir fry and noodles and sauce for the both of them.

Levitating the bowls over to the living room and onto the coffee table in front of his couch, he picked out a bottle of dark local beer and made his way over as well with two glasses. "I don't know how much you like stout, if at all, but I promise it'll be very good with the sweet food," he prefaced, pouring them both a glass before settling onto the couch next to her.

James grinned, he wasn't a very good cook, but he got by (in London he'd had elves for this, after all!) and whenever he got to cook for Lily he felt especially lucky that he was serviceable at it.

Nodding, "I still don't think they did. I think they say they did, but it'll end up like Casablance - very romanticized but not romantic." More than once girl at school had sighed over how wonderful the old muggle film had been, but James just saw it as a particularly cool war movie.

He leaned up and tapped his datapad a few times, fairly expert at it by now, and the movie popped up on the television opposite the couch. He dug into his meal and then realized what was missing. Shaking his head he set his bowl down and accio'd the blanket that Lily had seemed to claim when she'd stayed over through the storm. Tucking it around them he said, "There," and resumed eating. "Do you like it?" He asked, once she'd had a chance to try it, too.

James laughed a puff of air out at her compliment, "You're a terrible flatterer," he joked. "I'm glad you like it though, even if stout isn't your cup of tea."

On thought he turned a bit more toward her as the movie's previews were rolling, "You've never seen Casablanca? Next time, that's definitely the move, Humphrey Bogart is was one of the greatest muggle men of all time." He said it so matter of factly he had to wonder himself if it should sound so emphatic.

Finishing his food, James jostled them just a bit to set his bowl on the table and then wrapped his arms around Lily, who seemed lost for the moment. He leaned down, not wanting to startle her and asked, "What's on your mind?" in a whisper into her ear.

It wasn't like Lily to seem distant, James had known that in this reality and the last one, and so he worried, and the movie didn't seem to be capturing her attention either.

James smiled to himself when she was startled, was the last thing he was trying to do but it was adorable nonetheless. "Oh, no, please get lost all you like, but I'd prefer to come with you," he pried.

"What's got you zoning out? Surly it can't be how dull and romantic this supposed disaster movie is?" He joked, but also felt it was true.

James smiled at her line of thought. He'd wondered more than once if his parents might come through, being that a state of dead-ness didn't disqualify one, apparently.

"Then again, it might pull through your sister, too," he said absent-mindedly, trying to lighten the mood.

James couldn't help but laugh out loud at her comment. "I think you'd probably hug her, then when she's feeling all comfortable and safe, you'd throttle her," he countered.

He leaned back again, his head on top of hers, his arms around her, and sighed rolling his eyes at the movie. There hadn't even been a boat accident yet, wasn't it about the crash of the Titanic? I mean, the naked drawing scene had been ok, but Lily was hotter than that actress anyway, so whatever.

"Besides," he whispered, "if muggles can come through without being chosen, we have to worry about these idiots living here," he pointed to the telly and chuckled lightly, quietly, feeling content to snuggle into the couch with Lily next to him, no matter the bad movie he had to sit through.
