Characters: Daphne Greengrass
Setting: Daphne's new home, Settlement 1
Content: G
Status: Private: Complete
Daphne was alone in her new place. It felt empty. Terribly empty. It was void of any feeling, even. It was impeccably clean. She stood in her kitchen and looked around, surveying the cabinets and appliances. It was all brand new and waiting for her to make it a home.
Daphne sighed and set down her bag. It was a good thing she was a witch, she thought, as she set to unpacking. Her bag was filled with clothes and toiletries, but also with essentials for a new flat like dishes, silverware, pots and pans to cook with, bed linens and pillows, some small furniture, and even books. As she unpacked each item and found its place, she found herself wondering what exactly her place would be.
After all, Daphne had no desired skill in this new world. She found that once she knew about the opportunity, she couldn't pass up a chance for adventure, but she also knew that her knowledge of the publishing world would be of no use, her skills as a writer were moot, and even her adeptness at pulling a draft at the pub was hardly useful in a place that did not have one.
She pondered her new station in life as she unpacked her precious ballet slippers. She hung them on the wall for both functional storage and a visual reminder to herself where she had come from. She intended to continue her routine of dancing first thing every morning. It was as much a part of her day as her early morning cup of coffee and breakfast, sustained her as much as even her good friendships, and gave her the physical exercise she needed to stay in shape.
After the kitchen and living area were unpacked, Daphne headed into the bedroom to settle in. She made the bed and fluffed the pillows and sighed as she started to unpack her favorite books. She put a choice few on the nightstand and the rest away on the little bookshelf she had brought with her.
She was determined to unpack everything so that she could start making her new house a home, but she also wanted to explore. "After the bathroom," Daphne promised herself. "That won't take long."
