The hour had arrived at last; it was time to meet new friends and revisit old friends. Lily had looked forward to this all day and it was finally here. She had re-arranged her living room to allow for more people to gather as well as an area for food. Already on the table was the cake she had made - a large sheet cake with vanilla frosting and chocolate cake, as well as various dip recipes she had experimented with (she only kept the decent ones), and chips. She still had other goodies cooking including sausage.

Now she waited for her guests.

Lisa arrived at Lily's wearing her usual black tanktop but tonight she'd dressed it up with a skirt and a topknot, seeing as it was actually Saturday night and she wasn't at the pub. This was one for the record books, even Paul - old muggle grump that he was - smiled and cracked a joke when she told him she wouldn't be in for the dinner run. Something about her having a hot date, she'd only sighed.

Hot date it might not be, but there was more to life than flirting with customers and reading all by herself at home, right? She wanted companionship from more than a bottle of red wine, and so this was the start of it, she hoped.

Knocking, she put on a smile and held up the bottle of white moscato she'd picked up at the market for the occasion.

"Thanks," Lisa stepped in with a nod and a smile. "I was so glad to see your invitation on the datapad, it's not often I step out of the pub on a Saturday night." She held out the bottle of wine, "I wasn't sure what you like, but I figured wine is always a good bet." Ever the bartender.

Lisa laughed loudly, quickly, "Paul's probably grateful I'm not there flirting with the customers and slowing him down," she joked. "Oh, he's the cook, an elderly Muggle gent, cranky as all get out but nice enough." She shrugged, "it's just the two of us at the World's End. What do they have you doing here?"

Lily's place was nice, more cozy already than Lisa kept hers. She could see that Lily had been a mom once, even if that was a wild idea considering the witch in front of her wasn't much older than she was.

"Oh wow," Lisa exclaimed sincerely. She'd never been one for animals, but had loved her family's owl very much as child. "You know, I hadn't thought of that actually, I know that the terrain is different, and the food and drinks, but I hadn't thought how different the animals must be." Lisa thought on this a second and then asked, "Whats the weirdest you've seen, do you think?"

Lisa bit her bottom lip, trying desperately not to ask what she'd been wanting to since the other night at the pub. "Oh Merlin, Lily, I have to ask. That was James Potter you were with the other night, weren't you? He looks so like Harry..." Lisa thought wistfully of the attractive savior, "is everything alright? You must be so happy to both be here?" It was in her nature to gossip, no matter how tactless it made her out to be sometimes.

Lisa squirmed at Lily's description. "Merlin, I thought dealing with drunken, balding sad little men was the grossest thing ever - I stand corrected. I definitely couldn't do what you do." She shook her head, her eyes wide.

"Oh, goodness, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry... I had this silly idea that you two had reunited and it was... Oh, I don't know, 'happily ever after', I suppose." Now she looked down at her hands, feeling foolish and young. She sighed, "I shouldn't have asked though, it wasn't very polite either way." she looked to Lily again with an apology on her face. "How about we have a really big glass of wine and start over?" She smiled hopefully.

Charlie had intended to RSVP but things got away from him at the Ark and he wasn't even sure he'd be able to stop by Lily Potter's place until just after he got off work. Apparating home, he took a quick shower and changed into jeans and a t-shirt, scooping up the birthday present he'd picked out for Lily. With any luck, she would like it.

Apparating to the path outside her home, Charlie headed up to the door, setting the 'present' on his shoulder before knocking.

"I'm glad you like him. He's your birthday present, if you want him," Charlie chuckled, reaching up to stroke the tiny kneazle. "He's a kneazle, of course."

He stepped properly into the home and glanced around, seeing a few familiar faces. When Lily introduced Lisa, Charlie grinned and nodded. "Everyone knows the lovely lady who keeps us in line at the World's End, Lils."

Charlie lifted the kneazle from his shoulder and held him out to Lily with a big smile. It wasn't a hard guess that she might want a kneazle - witches tended toward feline familiars and she was alone here so the companionship would be welcome. Being a kitten, it would require more attention, giving Lily some sense of maternal bonding that she missed.

"You'll have him eating out of your hand in no time, I'm sure," he joked happily, giving a small shake of his head. "Let's see, the Charlie you knew was about..." he gestured with one hand down around his calf level. "this tall so that's no surprise."

"The twins gave Mum far more grey hairs than I ever did and we'll leave it at that, I think, in talking about Mum. The less she knows, the fewer grey hairs, if you get my meaning," he laughed warmly.

"You're very kind, thank you," Charlie sobered for a moment, then nodded. "Whatever you have, sure. I'm not picky."
