Cecilia hadn’t held any illusions that Jamie wouldn’t have caught on to, or at least wondered about the fact, that there was – or had been – something more than just simple friendship behind Sirius’ reason for having stayed at their house during the storm. Even with everything that had happened, it had turned out alright. Jamie had been polite and had come off as not that interested in their company and had retreated back to his room once he had assured himself that there really wasn’t any desert in the house, at least not one that needed to be devoured at the dinner table. It was the first time Cecilia had ever introduced him to someone she shared more with than simply friendship, but she hadn’t elaborated to him and had made certain not to get his hopes or expectations up about anything. All of that could wait until she herself was certain what she and Sirius had.

She had enjoyed having him in the house that night, and though Charlie would probably linger in the back of her head for a while yet, she was beginning to understand just how much Sirius meant to her. Whether they could get back what they had had – and if he was even interested in getting that back – or not, though, that she didn’t know yet. Even if he didn’t, she didn’t want to lose him as a friend, which was why she had jumped at the chance to invite him over for breakfast.

Jamie, of course, hadn’t missed the fact that the breakfast that had been served this morning, was different from his regular cereal and fruit, and had started a minor barrage of questions, all of which Cecilia had – in her own estimation – answered truthfully without giving him any specifics. It wasn’t until he had asked her outright, in a sing-song teasing, if she was having someone over to snog, that she had reminded him he was going to be late and had shooed him out of the house.

Alone in the house, she had cleaned up after Jamie while she waited for Sirius to show up.
